Welcome, Spectators!
A spectator is anyone attending the event who is not:
- A volunteer with event operating responsibilities, or
- A member of a team with official credentials.
Event volunteers and team members are usually easy to identify by their t-shirts, uniforms, wristbands or badges.
Spectators are required to park in the MIS Fan Zone located outside of the Michigan International Speedway oval.
- After being directed to parking, Spectators will use the Pedestrian Tunnel to gain access into the infield.
- Spectators need to report to Garage 1 (on the left) to register and receive a spectator wristband.
- All children under age 18 MUST be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Where You Can Go
Spectators are welcome to enjoy the competitions from designated spectator areas and other public areas you’re allowed to access. These include:
- Spectator areas outside the course
- Team paddocks
- Parking lots, food vendor areas, restrooms, and connecting walkways/paths
Where You Cannot Go
For your safety and the safety of participants, spectators are not allowed in:
- Technical inspection areas, practice/testing sites
- Static Judging event areas
- Dynamic event areas, such as track or practice areas
- Areas marked with “Restricted Access” or “No Access” signs
Additional Rules MUST Be Followed:
- Closed-toe shoes are required
- No pets allowed onsite
- Do not sit or stand on barriers or fences
- Unauthorized entry into restricted areas may result in ejection from the event
Drone Policy
Use of drones is strictly prohibited unless officially contracted with SAE International or Michigan International Speedway (MIS).
Drones will be confiscated by MIS officials.
Safety Enforcement
If a spectator enters an unauthorized area, the event may pause immediately until the area is cleared.
Student Team Members:
Even students not part of the active event crew are considered spectators and must follow all rules. No exceptions.
Photography
All photos must be taken from designated spectator areas. Photographers who enter restricted areas may be asked to leave.
No Exceptions
Spectator rules are strict.
Anyone not following the guidelines may be asked to return to the spectator area or leave the competition site entirely.
