After evaluating feedback and exploring new ways to better support student teams, SAE International is transitioning from the traditional seminar-style workshop format to introduce the FSAE Test, Tune & Teach pilot event. This hands-on experience is designed to combine competition preparation with workforce readiness by giving teams the opportunity to test their vehicles, learn from Formula SAE judges and industry experts, and build stronger connections with the engineering community.

The inaugural FSAE Test, Tune & Teach pilot event will be held at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, California and will take the place of the currently scheduled Formula SAE Technical Exchange in Florida. This pilot will explore a new approach to supporting teams through vehicle development, technical education, and direct industry engagement.

What teams can expect:
• Bring your 2026 Formula SAE vehicle for technical inspection and on-track testing.
• Drive on two autocross courses to evaluate vehicle performance and gather valuable data.
• Receive one-on-one mentoring from Formula SAE judges, technical inspectors, and industry professionals.
• Attend technical sessions presented by industry experts to strengthen engineering knowledge, competition readiness, and workforce skills.
• Network with fellow teams, Formula SAE judges, and industry partners during an evening reception.

Registration is FREE for student teams, and each accepted team may register up to 20 student team members. Participation will be limited to 40 teams.

To support this pilot format, meals will not be provided for student teams, except for one evening networking reception for participants.

Because space is limited and registration is free, we ask that only teams committed to attending register for this opportunity. This will help ensure available spots are used by teams ready to actively participate and allow other interested teams the opportunity to attend. Once capacity is reached, a waitlist will be established, and additional teams will be invited as space becomes available.

We believe this pilot event provides a unique opportunity for teams to test their vehicles, receive direct technical feedback, and prepare both their cars and team members for the upcoming Formula SAE season. We look forward to bringing this pilot experience to the Formula SAE community and gathering feedback to help shape future programming.
